Scripturally, Egypt was both literal and
symbolic. It was a very prosperous and
powerful nation, mentioned quite early in
Scripture, geographically located, as it is
today.
The power of this nation was expansive,
covering much of the Middle East.
Symbolically in Scripture, Egypt was a
depiction of the world, ranging from overt
idolatry and wickedness to trusting in it's
own powers and solutions.
Goshen was the protected little pocket of
Egypt.
